"1973 FACTORY PORSCHE 2.8L RSR was produced June of 1973. Originally delivered in Light Yellow to Grey Egerton. Grey Egerton and Elliot Forbes-Robinson campaigned this car in 1973 with their first outing resulting in an amazing 4th overall at Sebring 12Hr Race. Next race was 3rd in class at Watkins Glen followed by a 4th in class at Road America in another IMSA sanctioned race. Next race was a Trans-Am Race at Road America finishing 4th overall and then on to the world famous Laguna Seca Raceway where it finished 1st. The following year the car raced again at Watkins Glen finishing 1st overall with Al Holbert and Elliot Forbes-Robinson on April 21st, 1974. The car shows numerous other events but it is not confirmed if this is the actual 1973 RSR or the 1974 IROC RS that Grey Egerton purchased immediately after the 1974 IROC series. In 1986 it was sold to Lloyd Hawkins of New Orleans. He and his own private Porsche restoration shop (Rennsport) performed a rotisserie and 100% complete and original restoration to exacting standards. All factory original components were sourced for this perfect and correct restoration. The car today has 162 km's since this seven year restoration and is still in concours and absolutely factory correct condition. A $10,000.00 service was recently performed on this magnificent RSR and it is 100% ready for competition, concours or street. The car is now configured in exact 1973 Sebring 12hr livery and running on racing headers. If you desire the car is totally capable for street or rally with a custom fabricated street exhaust also in concours condition. This car has always been owned by world renown Porsche competition car collectors and is known as one of the best in existence today. In 2009 Porsche competition cars are the featured marque at The Monterey Historic Races so this car, being a past winner at this event, would be a welcomed entry. Needless to say this is a very rare and highly valued vintage racing Porsche that rarely is available for sale."
