Scandinavian early 911 meeting May 3 2008
hi fellas
we're toying with ideas for the first danish early911 meeting of 2008 after jan v's post here a while ago.
we were considering a meeting in denmark then possibly, if everyone is up for it, a trip through the tunnel and across the bridge to malmø (it could be a fabulous experience!). i dont know how many of you are down here in this area but it could be a fun adventure. we expect over 30 cars maybe it'll be up to 50 or so this year at the first meet - who knows maybe more.
but anyway - if we do it, and if we do it a first wednesday (march 5th or april 2nd) will there be any welcoming swedes to join the posse and help with an area to congregate there? i think it'll be fantastic fun.
best regards from dk

Hi
It sounds like a great idea , but most of the members here live up north in sweden. I'm in Gothenburg and have 3h down to Malmö and then 3h back up again on a wednesday evening ! Why don't you go for a saturday instead? I'm sure more of the swedes will show up then!
We could arrange an Early911 Scandinavia meet later this summer maybe?
We could take it just a bit further up in sweden so the people from places like Stockholm and Oslo can show up aswell?

Hi all,
This sounds like a great idea but midweek is hard for me. The drive from Stockholm to Kbh is at least 6 hours. Weekend would be better for me. Also, in march the weather is kinda shaky up here, and driving down in a blizzard is more than my Avons can take, even though I've been brushing up my suspension during December.
Maybe we should go for a Scandinavian meet in, say, April/May?

I have talked to Paul, and we aim for sunday may 4 as the day for a fleet of old danish 911s to invade Sweden.
We arrange a photo shoot from a plane, and would like to meet as many of you swedish and norwegian 911 wheelnuts as possible.
Can you suggest a meeting place, where we could all meet, maybe around lunch time?
Follow the danish planning here:

Awesome! A photo shoot from a plane? You Danes rock big time
OK, a couple of suggestions for location then... Jönköping? It's pretty much in the middle of Sweden giving all of us a couple of hours drive on the E4 or some other route for a more sportif experience. Jönköping is approx. 3 hours from both Malmö and Stockholm and for our Norwegian friends it's a 5 hour drive.

Since we have one of our allies in Jönköping, Peter from Ferdinand we might even get som serious help regarding location where to fit all the cars, and maybe even hotell recommendations for those of us who wants to stay over night.
Regards,
-ALF

Njaee...

Your right Alf, if it's possible and the danes would like to drive as far as to Jönköping that is a better idea than turning torso.

Welcome to Jönköping and FERDINAND.se!
It would be very nice if you would like to come to Jönköping that weekend. As Erik ad Alf said it's right between Copenhagen and Stockholm, so it wouldn't be to long a drive for anyone.
As the sponsors of this site, we would gladly take the opportunity to make some kind of event around this meeting, to give you some "value for money", ie make it worth the drive for all of you.
Not only a visit to our store/showroom in Habo, but maybe also we could invite some interesting people/cars. We could make some kind of a "rally", a nice tour, around the beautiful countryside, on specially nice "Early 911" roads. Then in the evening we could all go out for a nice dinner at a good restaurant. Just a few suggestions...
We would gladly accept the task of doing some organizing around this, If you find this interesting. Plan a "rally", negotiate good prices and book a nice restaurant for the dinner, and also get good accomodation for those who want to stay the night.
So, what do you say? Sound interesting? Please tell us what you think!
Best regards,
Peter Hajas, FERDINAND.se

Hi! It would be very nice!! but I voted maybe on the poll above. The motor club at work will probably hire Gelleråsen raceway the 4th of may. (not 100% sure yet, but I heard a rumour yesterday) So my personally question, why a Sunday for this? Why not the 3rd instead, not up to me to decide, I'm just curious, but then long travellers can start on Friday afternoon and arrive the meeting on Saturday and travel home on Sunday

Good point there, Richard.
I didn't read the original post carefully enough, and just assumed it was a saturday.
Saturday the 3rd would be better methinks.
Any other opinions?
Norway, we haven't heard anything from you guys?
Denmark? What do you say?
I think Richard's got a good point.

I have talked to Peter at Ferdinand and we´will try to arrange a really good meet on may 3. Hopefully we can get some 356 and g-model 911, 912 and 914 aswell.
He talked about showing us a RS 73 and maybe a ST, some lectures by known porsche specialists and then take a ride up to Gränna.
Paul and ThomasTe how many danes do you think will show up?

that will be so exciting eric.
(i'd love to see a 73RS, (i've embarrasingly never seen a real one).)
we're not sure of numbers yet. maybe by wednesday this week we'll have a clearer idea. 4 definates so far on day 1.
we'll try and rally the troops. i think its a worthy exciting adventure.

This get's better and better.
We need to get hold of the Norwegians as well, to see if they can leave the fjords for a day or two, to come south to show off their vehicles.
The poll here at the forum shows 5 definitive participants from Sweden, and 5 maybe attending. Hopefully we get more people than that on our first Scandinavian Early911 Meet.
Maybe we should do some serious PR for the event, and use the other Porsche-forum's out there to spread the word. Porsche.nu is just one, being PCS's forum, and creating a sub-site to e.g., early911.se/Nordicmeet...
What say you, gentlemen?

Peter and I talked about making at site for this event. We just have to make up a schedule for the day.
